A Level Physical Education
A level PE is for anyone who enjoys both practical performance and developing their knowledge of theoretical concepts in sport.
What can this course lead to?
The syllabus is particularly relevant for students interested in the vocational fields of leisure and tourism, health, physiology, business studies and science. The syllabus provides an excellent foundation for students intending to pursue careers in teaching and coaching, the leisure industry, recreational management, the health and fitness industry and professional sport.
Unit content [Exam Board: OCR]
UNIT 1 [AS] Anatomy & Physiology, Acquiring Movement Skills and Socio-Cultural Studies.
UNIT 2 [AS] Two practical activities. Evaluate performance and plan for improvement.
UNIT 3 [A2] Historical Studies, Sports Psychology and Exercise and Sport Physiology.
UNIT 4 [A2] Will be assessed in one activity chosen in this unit. Evaluate performance and plan for improvement.
Method of Assessment
UNIT 1: 2hr exam.
UNIT 2: Coursework
UNIT 3: 2.5hrs exam
UNIT 4: Coursework
Minimum entry requirement
C grade in GCSE Physical Education.
