BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate: Animal Care

This is a very practical course where students will learn how to handle, manage and keep a wide range of animals. Teaching and assessment will occur both in school and within work experience placements. This course is particularly suitable for students who want to follow a career involving animals and who enjoy working in a more practical nature. All assessment is by coursework and practical assessment.

What content is covered?

1. Maintaining Animal Accommodation
2. Undertaking Practical Animal Feeding
3. Introduction to the Principles and Practices of Animal behaviour and handling
4. Understanding the Principles and Practices of Animal Establishments

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is by coursework and practical assessment.
This course is approximately equivalent to two GCSE at grade A*- C
This course will be delivered at King’s School. It will involve visits to Zoos, Pet shops, Escot Park and other animal attractions.

Students opting for this course should be working at a level 5 and above for most subjects
