Why study this course?


If you love watching The Apprentice and Dragon’s Den then this could be the course for you. This course is for the student who has lots of ideas and would like to know more about business - what is involved? How do you start up a business? This is your chance to find out all about the Alan Sugars’ and Richard Bransons’ and how they work.

The course is designed to enable you to develop as a commercially minded and enterprising individual. This exciting new course allows you to look at the world around you through real and relevant local and international brands. You will be thinking creatively, making decisions and communicating your ideas.

On completion of the course you can progress onto GCE Business (A Level) which can then lead to a career in accountancy, law, marketing or leisure industry.


What content is covered?

The course consists of two themes:

Theme 1. Investigating small business

Enterprise and entrepreneurs/business ideas/risk and rewards.

What is involved? Ideas/markets/planning/location.

Theme 2. Building a business

How do businesses expand? Marketing/finance/people.


How will I be assessed?

Themes 1 and 2 are exam based units. Each exam will be 1½ hours long. Real life examples are used for questions. Questions are multiple choice, calculation, short-answer and extended-writing questions.

Each paper is worth 50% of the overall marks.
