IMIAL Level 1 Award in Vehicle Maintenance

Why study this course?

The qualifications are primarily designed for 14-19 year olds who are interested in learning about the maintenance of motor vehicles and the various roles that are available in the retail motor industry. The qualifications’ combination units provides you with the flexibility of achieving and progressing in manageable steps. The qualifications have a practical approach to assessment and include many visual questioning techniques.

You will begin studying towards the Award which is ideal for those who wish to undertake a qualification which provides a stepping stone to the IMIAL Level 1 Certificate in Vehicle Maintenance.

Once the award has been achieved, you will continue to add to your portfolios and work towards the Certificate which is ideal for progression. It can also supplement progress to GCSEs and other appropriate destinations such as apprenticeships and employment.

What content is covered? [Exam Board: IMIAL]

You will have the option to study a wide variety of units ranging from motor cyclemaintenance to vehicle body repair and vehicle braking systems.

  • Health and Safety Practices in Vehicle Maintenance
  • Tools, Equipment and Materials for Vehicle Maintenance

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is by coursework and practical assessment.

This course takes place at Exeter College on Wednesday afternoons.

Students will only be able to opt for this course if working below Level 4b in most subjects.
