Increasingly, as with all schools, we are trying to broaden our Key Stage 4 Curriculum and offer students the opportunity to study a much wider range of subjects so that more students are able to find an area of the curriculum in which they are able to really fulfil their potential. We hope to offer a number of work related options in the coming year in part-nerships with Exeter College. All students who wish to take a work related option will be interviewed individually and will only be signed on to a course if the school, the student and their parents agree that this would be the best option for them. Places for some courses will be limited and therefore allocated to the most suitable candidates.
All courses are a single option, however they are taught from 13:00 to 16:00 at Exeter College. Therefore students opting for these courses must be prepared to arrange transport home from school at 16:45 – 17:00 once a week. Animal Care is provided through The King’s School and work experience placements at various animal care or-ganisations and will run within normal schools hours.
Work-related courses are offered at TWO levels: Level 1 and Level 2
Level 2 BTEC Extended Certificates equivalent to 2 GCSEs at grades A* - C.
Level 1 This is equivalent to GCSEs at grades D - G
We currently offer the following Work related learning courses for students at Key Stage 4:
