Sports Presentation Evening 2016

On Tuesday 11th October 2016 The Kings School hosted its 14th Annual Sports Presentation Evening. The evening celebrated students’ successes, progress and leadership skills in Physical Education and sport.  Our guest of honour this year was 2016 Olympic Hockey Gold medal winner Giselle Ansley. Giselle shared some excellent advice about what is required to become a top sportsman or sportswoman as well as some of the highlights of the journey to Gold in Rio 2016. Giselle was also on hand all evening to present prizes to award winners and pose for photographs at the end of the evening and even take part in a ‘keepy uppy’ challenge with most improved footballer  Will Pitcher.

As a school we were delighted that she was able to make the time in a busy schedule to join us.

The 2016 Sports Presentation Evening included over 50 awards an outstanding gymnastics display from King’s School gymnasts and an inspirational video created by students who had attended The King’s School visit to India in 2015.

This year the prestigious Jumbo Holmes trophy was awarded to Lara Nicholson for outstanding achievements throughout her time at The King’s School and particularly in athletics, netball and sports leadership.  Well done to all those who won awards at this special evening. A special thanks also to Year 11 student Alfie Wright who opened the evening with some superb live piano playing.
