Message from the Head of 6th Form
The Sixth Form at King’s has a long and successful tradition of both high academic achievement and a strong community ethos. We offer a wide variety of courses at AS and A2 Levels – further details can be found in the prospectus link below. In recent years our results have been some of the highest in the county and we have a strong track record of students progressing onto university and employment after their Sixth Form courses. In 2011 OfSTED rated King’s as ‘Outstanding.’
In 2009 the Sixth Form moved into brand new purpose built accommodation with dedicated ICT suite, study rooms, social area and kitchen. This was recently extended in 2012 to cope with increasing size. Student numbers have increased with the majority of Year 11 students from King’s choosing to continue their education here year on year. We also welcome students from other schools who wish to join the Sixth Form in Year 12 and have a sizeable number who do so annually from outside our catchment area.
A key part of the King’s Sixth Form experience is the community ethos we offer. Year 12 and 13 students take a key role in the whole school life and benefit from opportunities such as leading House competitions, delivering Sex Education lessons, being Community Sports Leaders or organizing charity events. The highlight of the Sixth Form calendar is our annual Variety Show – a sellout each year that has to be seen to be believed! We also offer students options beyond their chosen subjects to gain additional awards such as the Extended Project, CSLA, Duke of Edinburgh, Volunteering Awards or AQA Baccalaureate.
If you are interested in joining the Sixth Form at King’s please feel free to come and visit. We hold an open evening each November and invite applications for courses in January. If you would like more information please contact Mrs Miller – Sixth Form P.A. or see the diary of events below.
