Funds to Support Students
Pupil Premium and Free School Meals
The school receives funds from the DfE to support students that are registered for free school meals (FSM). The support we are able to provide those students registered for FSM goes well beyond the free meals in the canteen and includes:
- Support with Trips and Visits
- Support with subject materials such as revision guides, calculators, art materials etc.
- A free laptop for the duration of your child’s studies at King’s to ensure they can access all aspects of the curriculum
- One to one Tutor support in key subjects such as English and Maths
- Additional Careers advice and guidance
- Gifted and Talented programmes where appropriate
If you are in receipt of Free School Meals and there is a barrier to your child’s learning then please get in touch. To apply for FSM please see our separate page under the Parents Tab.
Foundation and Jubilee
The Foundation and Jubilee Trust was first set up fifty years ago by a far sighted Headteacher, the late Sydney Andrew and his Chairman of Governors, Ivor Gerwyns Tucker, to support particular educational objectives at The King’s School. In previous years the Trust’s activities have included the provision of the original all-weather sports pitch, stage lighting and the development of a computer network. Nowadays the Trust provides financial assistance for individual students seeking to broaden their educational experience. Support has been given to past and present students to help with travel or equipment costs.
The Trust Committee meets once per term to discuss fund-raising and expenditure; parents, students, ex-students, staff and governors are all represented on the committee in accordance with its constitution.
In the past we have helped students with:
- Transportation of horses for the school show-jumping team
- Travel expenses for a Scout Jamboree in Thailand
- Support for equipment purchases for Ten Tors
- Expedition to climb Kilimanjaro
- Support programme for Vetinerary Science Studies in Vietnam
- England Gymnastics Kit.
- Goal Keeping gloves
- Dreams and Teams visit to Ethiopia
- Philosophy and Ethics Conference in Budapest
In order to apply for any financial support, the student (past or present) requesting support should write to:

Please consider making a donation to The King’s School Foundation and Jubilee Trust’ by sending a donation to the school (cheques payable to The King’s School Foundation and Jubilee Trust’). This will enable the work to be continued and, we hope, expanded. If you complete the Gift Aid Declaration Form we will be able to reclaim tax on your donation.

- Return the form completed together with payment
- Once payment has been received, we can order the instrument on your behalf which can be collected from the school.
If you have any questions regarding the scheme please contact the Head of Music or the finance office.
Endeavour Fund
The school is privileged to have received donations from a local organisation that allows staff to nominate specific students for additional support from an “Endeavour Fund”. Any member of staff can nominate a student, but the student must be in receipt of Free School Meals or the school be made aware of a particular hardship case. Students are eligible if they demonstrated at least one of the following:

Examples of the types of materials/activities that could be supported by the fund include: supporting the costs of a musical instrument, paying for participation in a sporting activity within or beyond school, materials for an art project, a subscription to a journal, etc.
All nominations are considered on a termly basis and awarded at discretion of the Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher (Student Support) and Deputy Headteacher (Inclusion)
