Open to All
As a successful and popular school, we regularly welcome students from other schools into our Sixth Form. We have an inclusive ethos and a welcoming community, thus enabling the transition from another secondary school to be smooth and successful with students very quickly feeling part of the school.
We offer an open entry policy to all our post-16 A level courses. Students must attain at least 5 Level 4 grades or above at GCSE, ideally including English and Maths, and have the capacity to be able to achieve on the courses they wish to study. Students also need to attain the minimum entry requirements in each subject they wish to study – details of which are on the subject pages within the Sixth Form prospectus.
We actively welcome students from other schools, including those from outside The King’s School catchment, area to apply for post-16 entry. We hold an open evening in November where further details of subjects that are available can be found and where you can come and see what really makes King’s 6th Form so special. You can register interest in applying for Sixth Form places, as well as meeting a range of students and staff for each course.
Application forms are available in January for both internal and external applicants. All students have an options discussion with the Head of Sixth Form.
Letters offering places and confirming option choices are sent out before Easter. Students usually attend our Induction Day held at the end of June after GCSE exams finish, and then formally enrol on GCSE results day in August or before term starts in September.
